How is Green Tree Mill different
from the local lumber yard?
We are different from large commercial mills and distributors in both the ways we conduct our business and the quality of materials we mill. We take pride in conducting our business practices within a green business model, aspiring to produce solid wood products that leave minimal impact on the environmental while assuming social responsibilities in our efforts. The quality of the wood products we mill, dry, and mould are superior in quality, character, delivery, and story because we make the time and effort to meet customer demands
What kinds of hardwoods and softwoods does Green Tree Mill produce?
We mill, dry, and mould a wide variety of woods. We acquire materials that are sustainably felled and harvested from private lands and FSC Certified woods from regional woodlots and green distributors. See our Woods page for the current list and call us for price and availability.
What does FSC Certified mean? Why are sustainably harvested and reclaimed materials important?
The FSC is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. Green Tree Mill works predominantly with regional woodlots and wood distributors that are FCS Certified and who abide by environmentally friendly, socially responsible practices.
I am an architect and I would like to specify wood materials from here in the Northwest for a project. How do I do this?
We work directly with architects, builders, designers, and homeowners all the time. Whether a project demands unique flooring made from local ash, or timbers for a custom interior, Green Tree Mill can create the materials you need that fit a range of design specifications, building requirements.
There is a tree on my property I would like to have it taken down. Does Green Tree Mill do this kind or work?
Green Tree Mill and its sister company Meyer Wells work with local arborists to fell, mill, dry, and cut trees on customer properties. We have a list of preferred arborists we work with and would be happy to recommend someone for the job.
Can Green Tree Mill help me turn a tree into materials for a project? What is entailed?
If you have a tree that is coming down, please send a series of photos, measure the circumference at breast height, and estimate of height of trunk at first bunching. Send this along with your contact information to davidk@greentreemill.com. Aside from working with arborists, Green Tree Mill can provide customers with custom milling, drying, resawing, and moulding.
